Evening Windows is a cosy puzzle of sunlight, mirrors, plants and sleeping cats for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Here is how it works, and how to reach us if something is not right.

Playing

How do I play?

Sunlight comes in through a window. Tap a brass mirror (click it on a Mac) to turn it and send the light somewhere new. A room is in bloom when the light reaches every plant and touches no cat.

What stops the light?

Furniture and walls stop it. Plants do not: light passes straight through their leaves, so one beam can wake several. Not every mirror in a room has to be used.

What do the coloured marks on mirrors mean?

Mirrors wearing the same mark turn together, wherever they are in the room. A mirror with two marks turns with both of its families. Marks first appear in the West Wing.

Some rooms have more than one window

Later rooms have two, three, then four windows, each with its own sunbeam. A plant is happy with light from any of them. A cat wants none of them.

I am stuck. What can I do?

Use the buttons under the room: undo takes back a turn (as many as you like), reset puts the room back as it was, and the lightbulb rings the mirror that brings you closer. They are always free.

What is the little sun on a room’s window?

You solved that room in the fewest turns possible. It is only for your own satisfaction; nothing is locked behind it.

The purchase

What is free and what is paid?

The Quiet Rooms, the first sixteen, are free. A single purchase, “The Whole House”, opens all sixty-four rooms across the four wings, and any rooms added later. There are no ads, subscriptions, or other purchases.

I bought the game but the rooms are locked

Tap the cog, then “Restore purchase”. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account that made the purchase. If it still does not unlock, email us and we will help.

Does the purchase carry over to my other devices?

Yes, on iPhone, iPad and Mac with the same Apple Account: use “Restore purchase” on each device.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.

Progress and settings

Where is my progress saved?

On your device. The rooms you have finished, your best turn counts, and the room you were in the middle of (including its undo history) are saved after every move. Progress is not synced between devices, and deleting the app removes it.

Can I turn off music, sounds, vibration, or statistics?

Yes. Tap the cog on any screen. “Music”, “Sounds” and “Vibration” each have their own switch, and “Anonymous stats” turns off the anonymous play statistics described in the privacy policy.

Which languages does it support?

English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. The game follows your device’s language.

Still need help?

Email us and tell us what happened, which device you are using, and which room you were in. We read every message.
